Much of my inspiration for this series of film photos comes from the work of the great suspense film director Alfred Hitchcock, and one of my favorite psychological thriller films from 1946 The Spiral Staircase. These works stand out to me for their ease at making the viewer feel unsettled at even the simplest of details, and their uses of small isolations of light in masses of darkness. It is because of my love for these films that I try to bring some of that suspense thriller aesthetic to my photography.
